Keep Calm & Clay On! A night of Pinot, Pottery, Creativity & Connection.
On a cosy Wednesday evening on 2nd September, our Ignite members gathered at Marion Storm Café for a wonderfully creative evening of Pinot + Pottery with two incredibly talented and creative ladies, Miranda Stephens and Anna McNeill.
And what better way to shake off the mid week than with a little movement and dance! We began the evening by moving our bodies, having a laugh and quite literally shaking off any rattles from the day, before settling in for an evening of creativity, connection and, of course, a little Pinot!
Our creative theme for the evening was Picasso-inspired wall art, and there was certainly no shortage of imagination around the room.
We were given the choice to create our own doodle on paper, which could then become the inspiration for our clay piece, or we could choose from a selection of ready made designs.
Then Miranda and Anna introduced us to a fabulous printing technique that allowed us to transfer our chosen image onto our clay piece.
It was such an interesting process to watch come to life and the best part was seeing how completely different everyone's creations became. No two pieces were the same, with each one reflecting the personality and creativity of the woman making it.
There was something really special about sitting around the tables, experimenting, designing, creating and not worrying too much about whether our masterpieces were perfect. After all, art is meant to be fun!
Of course, no Ignite event would be complete without delicious food, plenty of laughter and wonderful company!
A huge thank you to Claire and her fabulous helper Jules for preparing such a delicious dinner for us. And I have to say… the topped spud may just have been the best I have ever eaten!
And then came dessert and oh my goodness! There were delicious treats to enjoy, but honestly, nothing beats a good old scone with fresh cream!
Add some wine, great conversation and a room full of women ready to relax and have fun, and you have the perfect Ignite evening.
While we may have arrived to make pottery, we left with so much more.
There were lots of laughs, a little wine, plenty of creativity and beautiful connections being made some between old friends and others between women meeting for the first time.
That is what I love about Ignite.
It is not just about the activity we are doing. It is about creating a space where
women can come together, try something new, have a laugh, share stories, learn from each other and simply enjoy being together.
Our Picasso-inspired masterpieces may have looked completely different, but they all had one thing in common, they were created with laughter, connection and a whole lot of Ignite spirit.
So, until our next adventure…
